Friday’s Standouts

The Conrad P. Foss Live Period Academic Showcase is underway from the Alachua County Sports and Events Center in Gainesville, FL. Collegiate coaches from across the country and from all levels were in attendance. Here are some of the standouts from Friday’s action.

William Stewart (2028) Providence: Stewart made an impact on both ends of the floor with his athleticism and nonstop motor. The 6’4″ guard attacked the rim for dunks, disrupted shots defensively, and continued to show growth as a playmaker. He finished with 29 points and 5 assists in a win over St. Thomas Aquinas.

Donovan Swain (2027) Coral Glades: Swain continues to rise as a productive all-around player. He scores in multiple ways, rebounds well, creates for others, and makes plays defensively. While his 12.5 points per game in Friday’s two games may not stand out, his overall impact did, as he averaged at least three rebounds, assists, and steals. Swain plays with poise and confidence.

Ty Duncan (2027) Tocoi Creek: Duncan brought his heater to the event and displayed his ability to spray it in from anywhere. Duncan dropped eight three-pointers in a win over OCP finishing with 24 points. Duncan runs the floor well, moves well without the ball and is always ready to shoot. If he continues to shoot the ball consistently and remains sound on defense, he should draw more attention on the recruiting trail.

Johnas Maurice (2028) Oak Ridge: Maurice is a quick-twitch guard who can beat defenders off the dribble or knock down shots from the perimeter. After hitting five three-pointers in the first half, he adjusted well to defensive changes. He attacked the paint, finished at the rim, and created scoring chances for teammates. Maurice finished with 23 points and multiple assists while making an aggressive defensive impact that led to transition opportunities.

Terrance Walker (2027) Edgewater: Walker is a fearless competitor who came through late, scoring 17 of his 19 points in the second half and overtime of a win over Pembroke Pines Charter. He attacks the rim, finishes through contact, creates for teammates, and brings constant defensive pressure with active hands and solid footwork.
